Baramulla, Aug 11 (KNO): Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Gurinderpal Singh on Monday said elaborate security arrangements have been put in place across the district to ensure smooth and peaceful Independence Day celebrations at over 147 venues.
Speaking to reporters about the preparations, the SSP, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that in the run-up to August 15, the district has been witnessing an average of three to four Tiranga rallies daily, all of which have been provided full security cover.
“Arrangements for these events are intact and we expect the celebrations to pass off peacefully,” he said.
On the overall security scenario, SSP Singh said the situation along the Line of Control remains normal, but the security grid is fully alert. “We are ready to tackle any situation that may arise,” he added.
Notably, over 12,000 people as per the officials joined a grand Tiranga rally on Monday, carrying a 2.5-km-long tricolour.
Led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Minga Sherpa, SSP Gurinderpal Singh and ADC Syed Altaf Hussain, the event saw participation from civil and police officers, army personnel, students and locals.
Meanwhile, authorities in Baramulla have urged the public to participate in the Independence Day events in large numbers, highlighting the spirit of unity and patriotism across the district—(KNO)
